No life is sustained alone. Each of us requires nurturing, encouragement, goodwill, and trust. This is true for organizations as well. The Gestalt Practice Library and Resource Center exists because many people have helped preserve, carry, question, teach, fund, build, and care for this work over many years.
We create this living record of appreciation knowing that it is incomplete and will grow. If we have missed a contribution of any kind, let us know. Your additions will help us more fully honor the people and histories that inform and support this effort.
Thank you to all who cleared the path and laid the ground in years past.
Thank you to all who keep this work alive now and carry it forward.
Thank you to all who gather to participate and learn with goodwill, curiosity, and courage — you who explore how to be more alive, how to be real, how to be human.
Thank you to all who carry what you learn into the world, offering it directly to others or simply through your way of being. Without your willingness to show up, this work would remain only an idea. You help carry awareness, open mind, and open heart into the world.
Thanks to you to all who have provided financial support. Your willingness to contribute makes it possible for us to dedicate ourselves to this effort. We “pay it forward” with commitment and appreciation of your support.
Thank you to all the teachers and visionaries, past and present, who explore new ideas, challenge assumptions, and go beyond what is standard or comfortable.
Thank you to all who create space for healing—with kindness, patience, tolerance, and respect—and invite us to return to ourselves.
Thank you to all who transform their pain and suffering into wisdom and new opportunities and show us how to do the same.
Thank you to all the “imperfect masters” who step forward to offer what they can — sometimes revealing their humanness in failure while still sharing priceless gems along the way. You show us that we don’t have to wait for perfection before offering our love and care.
Thank you to Love, Trust, Truth, Humor, Tolerance, Clarity, Time, and Space. As we (re)connect with you, we heal, grow, and become more present.
Many people helped launch this library. These acknowledgements are a beginning. As we name some of those whose efforts made this possible, we remember that each contribution—of time, skill, and financial support—is essential. We were given these resources, and we hope that what we build now will support those who follow.
Many thanks to...
Richard “Dick” Price (1930–1985)
Dick Price was the originator of gestalt practice and co-founder of Esalen Institute. He devoted his life to exploring awareness and creating a trustworthy, nourishing environment where people could engage in healing and growth without coercion. Drawing on his work with Fritz Perls and integrating influences from Buddhism, Taoism, Reichian work, and many somatic approaches, he developed an educational, community-based approach he called gestalt practice.
Dick taught primarily at Esalen Institute, sitting with thousands of participants in workshops and circles. His teaching emphasized presence, direct experience, and trusting process. The Gestalt Practice Library and Resource Center exists because of his vision and dedication. To read more about his life and the practice he created, visit the Richard Price page.
Founding Board Members
Christine Price, Dorothy Charles, and Sharon Terry have each felt deeply supported by gestalt practice—so much so that they have dedicated many years to exploring, sharing, and preserving this way of being. Whatever they have offered to others has continually renewed what they themselves received.
Deep gratitude to Ian Terry, Elizabeth Terry, Yassine Khayati, and Aretetic Solutions for their dedication and many hours of work creating the website database, tagging system, and digital archiving system. Their thoughtful design and steady partnership have given form to something we could hardly imagine. The care and knowledge they bring will allow this living archive to serve and grow for years to come.
Consultant, Assistant, Transcription Queen, and All-Around Support
Jenny Price was born to the breed, attending her first gestalt practice group when she was one month old. She brings intelligence, clarity, irreverent humor, and a B.S. detector to the creation of this library - qualities also native to her father, Dick Price.
