Richard "Dick" Price's varied interests were rivaled only by his curiosity and a willingness to let that curiosity lead him. When he died, his files (desk, bedside table, bookshelves) were crowded with proof of just how far ranging his explorations could be, as well as exhibiting evidence of his willingness to abandon a path of inquiry if he felt it had run its course.

Dick's openness and engagement inspired others to share materials with him. There are many documents in this Library's Archive that originated with those he'd crossed paths with who, in coming across some article or another, couldn't help but think of the last conversation they'd had with Dick, resulting in a magazine in the mail or some Xeroxed pages stuck in his Esalen mailbox or passed across the table in the communal dining area there.

In addition to what Dick left behind, we plan to include curious, engaging, diverse, thought-provoking, belly laugh-inducing, and maybe sometimes mundane items here from those touched and inspired by—and inspiring to—gestalt practice.
