Contributions of Materials, Stories, and Memories

Would you like to contribute a written or recorded story, a bit of remembering or reflection about your experience with Dick Price, gestalt practice, or its offspring?

If you want to do this but need a little start-up, consider the “prompts” listed below and use what supports you.

Maybe you have tapes of sessions with Dick or materials related to some of his colleagues that we have featured in the Archive. We are happy to discuss receiving materials that you consider important to preserve and see as fitting into this archival structure.

Possible Prompts for Self-interviews:

Topic: Gestalt Practice and Offspring (Gestalt Awareness Practice, Relational Gestalt Practice, Open Floor…)

  • How did you meet gestalt practice? … or Gestalt Awareness Practice or Relational Gestalt Practice or Open Floor or…?
  • What do you remember of that initial experience?
  • What did you expect? How did your expectations compare with your experience?

  • What has your relationship to this practice been since your first exposure?
  • What is your relationship to this practice now?

  • Is there any particular aspect of this approach that has been useful to you?
  • Is there any piece of the practice or teaching phrase that you remember or refer to often?

  • Is there any particular aspect of this approach that has been problematic for you?
  • If yes, would like to describe that?

  • When you think of your experience with gestalt practice, is there any particular memory, snapshot, moment in time that comes to mind? Would you want to describe that?

  • If yes, how did your experience compare to your expectations?

  • When you think of Dick,
    • What behaviors or qualities come to mind? Is there a particular phrase that he used that you still remember?
    • Does a particular memory, snapshot, or moment come to mind? Would you want to describe that memory or moment?
    • How or when does he come to your mind now?
